Can you find a DME who will let you exchange masks within thirty days if they don't work for you?
Mask Junkie
The Activa is an interesting mask that I wear once or twice a week. That mask has a loyal group of fans and many people recommend it. Some poeple who don't even own one and have never slept with the mask recommend it. On the other hand, many people love to critize the Comfort Series on masks. Again, many of those critics do not own the mask or have only tried it during a sleep study.
I find that masks with a smooth surface cushion (ResMed) start leaking around 2 AM on me. Masks with a slightly texturized cushion (Respironics) don't lose their seal on me. There are many advantages to the Comfort Classic beyond price. Available in many sizes, light weight, tight center of gravity, durability, robust cushion, diffuser elbow is virtually silent, etc. I use the Tiara "H" headgear with my Comfort Classic, so I can't comment about the head gear that comes with the mask. That may be a source of discontent with the mask. I sleep on my side and stomach, so a post type forehead support works better than a "T" type support.
For those of you who don't own an Activa and and a Comfort Classic, I should point out that the Activa uses a Comfort Classic cushion with a bellows added to isolate the mask from the frame. The pressure on your face is virtually the same for both masks.

Thank you and everyone else for their help (Caroline, I thought that was what you meant). I saw your previous thread on the same subject. Good to know I am not alone, bad to know that this is a common serious addiction! You veterans must get allot of repeat questions from us newbies (even when we read many posts) and I beg your indulgence.i just meant that ladies like activa, too. not that it's meant just for men or women. yes, i knew you were a guy before i saw your avitar.
I will post my DME office experience in another post; I have read previously that this may help others in their choices down the road. Of course, I now have even more questions! Thanks again-Lee.
