Comfort fit FFM leak rate

Post by W7SOT » Sun Jun 03, 2012 5:16 pm

OK - maybe some of you know out their, I just switch to the EVO Medical ComfortFit Full Face Mask, and trying to figure out what the expected leak rate is (rate of flow out of the holes) - I have tried contacting Evo, and they do not have that information - but was wondering if anyone out their has been able to come up any info on the leak rate? My average leak rate show on the Resmed S9 screen is 28 L/Min - does this sound about right?

Scott

It makes no difference the S9 calculate mask leak (unintentional leak) for you, you only have to change the mask type to full face on the S9.
ResMed draw the line of acceptable leak at 24 L/min as high prolong leak affect the quality of treatment and accuracy of data.

ok - so my 95% leak rate of 16.8 L/Min as reported my sleepyhead is my unintentinal leak rate - if the machine figures in the mask leak rate - I would want this number to be as close to 0 is I can get it?

If you,re not disturbed or awaken by the leaks than its ok to have some leak as zero leak is not attainable most of the time and shouldn't be the aim.

95% number means that for 95% of the time the leak was at OR below that amount of leak. People tend to forget the or below part of things. It also means that for 5% of the time the leak was above that number.

Look at my report from last night. 95% number is 14.40 yet I really didn't spend much time near that number. The bulk of the night my leaks were minimal to none. This is a great report for me and I wouldn't spend one second trying to fix a leak that doesn't need fixing.

ok - so for the night, my average leak was 9.6, so I won't worry about that unless things drastically change.

Thanks
