Please help a noob on myencore numbers

Post by bridak » Mon Apr 03, 2006 4:13 pm

Hi i just got my card reader for my respironics machine and my reading for a typical day is this..
usage 8. hours
cpap with cflex at 14.0 cm
ahi:1.5 eventhr
total obstructive apneas:5
total nr apneas: 0
total snores 630
total flow limitaions n/a
total time in apnea :60 sec
frac of night in var breathing:32.7%
oai:.54
hi:.97
snore index :68.0
Average leak:42 lpm

Now my question is this. is my average leak normal or is it to high? Also by seeing 630 for my snoring, should this mean that i should try putting 15cm instead of 14 as my prescription says? Also what does my variable breating means?

I'm sorry if these are stupid questions but i just got my machine and reader and really anxious to fix my problem..i was doing 66 event/hour before and i can't wait to feel better..

Thanks

GO to the MyEncore download site and there is a good explanation of what most of the stat's mean.

Good luck,

Bridak,

How long have you been using your machine?
Your overall AHI looks pretty good....1.5. Were there hypopneas?

Since you apparently just installed the software, I'd watch it for a week or two and see if there's some kind of trend. If you're just starting out on your machine, these numbers seem reasonable to me.....for now.

Best wishes,

Den

I'm a Hypopnea king. I hypop all over the place and it varies night to night by a wide margin. I wish I knew what the variables were.

Even weirder.. pressure hardly seems to influence my numbers until the higher end when all my numbers go UP !!.

Otherwise 5,6,7,8 are the almost the same, 9 goes up a little and then it archs up at 10 & higher. My OSA's are relatively low but I have 4-6 / night but some nights none.

For me pressure seems not to do too much. It makes me think my Hypop's are internally generated by my breathing and not by any obstruction as in OSA.

I may be wrong but I suspect the xPAP is to keep me from Desaturating when my breathing gets unstable - and that's ok but I don't seem to respond to xPAP pressure like many others seems to.
