Re: Why S9 AutoSet so Popular vs. S9 Elite (Resmed)?
I fought to get an ELITE instead of the ESCAPE the DME gave me. Won that battle. But my sleep doctor does not think APAP is the best treatment for most OSA patients. She believes a single contant pressure interferes less with your sleep. The adjustments the APAP makes are gradual and take time. So you will have events as it works to adjust pressure up. She does not like that delay and allowing of events. She'd rather have all her patients on CPAP and is very opposed the APAP. So I have an ELITE. If I need an overnight titration, I'm sure they have machines you can borrow for a night or two. I'm happy with my ELITE. I have all the data I want but don't have to deal with the constant changes of pressure all night. The only time pressure changes is when I get a big leak or open mouth.

Goes along with the discussion I brought up in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=76278&p=696841&hili ... ap#p696841.VikingGnome wrote:But my sleep doctor does not think APAP is the best treatment for most OSA patients. In the end there is no consensus among the forum members, but it is an interesting discussion, I think.

I've only used mine for 3 nights now. But I am totally unaware of the change in pressure. I had to look at the data to see how high it went. Mine is set 11-17, and it has gone up to 16.86, and I never noticed any change.VikingGnome wrote:I fought to get an ELITE instead of the ESCAPE the DME gave me. Won that battle. Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I have to ask.
What is that paperclip looking thing sticking out of your Swift FX?
You have good eyes, Viking. That's my invention, my 'papit compression clip' : ) I crafted it to give the pillows on my Swift FX mask a little more stability. It provides a slight amount of lateral compression (both inward AND outward) on the pillows to hold them 'together'. Think of it as a mini-bra! It works well for me! Great seal and much more stable and reliable.
If the idea interests you, check out the topic thread at viewtopic.php?f=1&t=76155&p=696357#p696357 You'll see close-up photos and details of how to make one for yourself if you want to try it. Have at it. It's fun. Reply here on there if you have questions and I'll try to help.
