3 nights in and I'm feeling pretty good about things. Wifey says I'm sleeping peacefully and not snoring. It hasn't been too hard falling asleep with the the box blowing air in my nose. I'm getting 7.5 hours of sleep with the mask on. And, if the stats on the machine are to be believed, my AHI has been around 2.
The downside is that I've developed a little tightness in my chest, a chesty cough, and a bit of a wheeze. I lowered the humidity a couple notches last night and the wheeze seems a bit better this morning, but I'm still hearing it. I was wondering how much of these symptoms are my body getting used to the new sleeping arrangements, and how much I should be talking to my doc about. Anyone have similar experiences?
Thanks!

Re: Day 4 question - newbie wheezing?
I also noticed wheezing several months after I had been on the machine. I have asthma that mostly just flares up when i have a cold, or when there are lots of allergens in the air. I had not wheezed before except when there was a lot of allergens or smoke from fire, or when I got a cold. I mentioned it to my Dr and he said it was due to my allergies and asthma, not from the CPAP. He put me on a preventative inhaler for my asthma and I have been fine since. Do you have any allergies or asthma in your medical history?? My Dr explained that my asthma never "goes away" just goes from "less severe to more severe", and when more severe, that is of course when I notice it and wheeze. I had thought it just wenst away when I wasn't wheezing, but found with the use of a peak-flow gauge how I was still affected more at times. Mention it to your Dr., just to be sure.

No asthma or allergies, but I had a nasty & protracted case of bronchitis awhile back that caused some wheezing. Maybe I'm not all the way back from that. Guess it's time to call the doc. Thanks.

Play with your humidity settings. You may need more or less humidity. Your whole breathing system is probably over sensitive due to that bout of bronchitis. For me that usually means much more humidity and warmth.jab1972 wrote:No asthma or allergies, but I had a nasty & protracted case of bronchitis awhile back that caused some wheezing.
