To set up some kind of machine. I don't know what I'm getting. I know that it'll have a heated humidifier, because I made sure to ask for it after what I'd been reading (also have asthma and TMJ).
It's been just a little over 2 weeks from my sleep study. Had to call the doc that ordered the study a few days ago because I'd heard nothing, once she called me back, the stuff was ordered within 24 hours.
Supposedly this is some kind of service?? Not really sure, never heard of them before... company's called Lincare. Insurance is supposed to be covering it all... supposedly it's really good insurance... pfft... guess that it's good for something after all. It's one of these HSA thingy's through work.
I'm a little nervous, but I'm desperately craving a better night's sleep than what I've been getting recently. Been getting up two or more times a night, never sleeping more than a couple of hours at a time.
Anyway, this appears to run in my family (my dad), so I'm guessing that I'll be in this for the long haul.
RT's coming tomorrow
Lincare
Lincare is a big company wtih offices all over Texas, and maybe all over the country. They have supplied nebulizers for my dad's emphysema treatments.
When working with any medical supplies provider, remember that you DO have some choices. Some providers will offer you a choice, and for others, you have to ask. It would be a very RARE insurance that would only provide ONE brand of machine.
Mask fitting is CRITICAL. If they bring several masks, try them on with the CPAP running. Lie down and see if you can sleep in your usual position with your usual pillow with the mask on.
If they bring only one mask, ask what happens if this mask doesn't work for you. Make sure they agree that you can exchange it. No decent provider should offer only one mask.
Unless your insurance requires you to use this ONE provider, then you are really in charge. You can go to someone different if they don't offer what works for you. Find out if your insurance is buying or renting the unit. You don't want to accept something that seems doubtful if it is an outright purchase.
OK, that is all the advice I can think of. GOOD LUCK....it is worth it!

Mine came from Lincare, they were the only provider my INS uses, in my Sig is what I got. They just throw you a machine and a mask and away you go, I had to call them four times and pick up my stuff or I'd still be waiting for it.
Mine is a 15 month rental, I called my INS about buying my own, but they wouldn't reimburse me, so they get to pay $800 more for it. Jim in Indiana.
