Sleep study retest and retest

Post by robertjvan » Thu Feb 02, 2012 10:01 am

After the Last major test the Doctor reset the pressure to 9 cmH2O from 11. And so far I've had 2 retests were they issued me a loaner data capable CPAP, the regular machine is too new to issue me a new machine (got 1/2009). The first month at 9, which I'm done and they have the results, results working good but I liked the old setting better. The second Month back on 11 and I have 2 more weeks at that pressure, I'm getting better rest.

Long time user since 1996 anyways, most likely should have started at least ten years before that though.
have a Fisher & Paykel Icon+ with built in humidifier (not fancy but it works) not sure it's not listed!

According to the icon you selected as your CPAP device you have the SleepStyle 234 CPAP. It helps if you select Text to display the device(s) you are using as all the current F&P devices look the same and its a bit of a PITA to have to click on the icon and wait for the new page to display just to see which device you are talking about. I don't have any experience w/the F&P SleepStyle CPAP so I can't offer any suggestions.

I'm guessing that only they can read the data.
Ask them what your numbers were.--AHI, leak, etc.
Unless you get a full data machine, you will never know otherwise.

The SleepStyle 234 is the most basic of machines. It doesn't even have leak compensation.

Compliance software only....hours of use.
For full data have to be able to use the Performance Maximizer software which this machine is not compatible with because it doesn't gather anything but hours of use. The only data the DME can gather is how many hours you used the machine on average each night.

Yep my loaner machine is a F&R ICON Series CPAP, it has a Flash card that can be removed and the test data is on that. They (American Home Patent) has the software to produce reports that the Doctor needs.

I think that page is badly worded and is referring to "humidity" leak compensation. They all have to have a pressure sensor to compensate for leaks.

However, I agree that the SleepStyle 234 is a very basic unit.

No they don't...the other higher end models have it but not the base model. Must be model 236 or higher.

As I said, the ad is badly written.

Read a few lines higher on the same page. I think the check marks are for the bit about "compensate for humidity loss during leaks – maximizes humidity".

A CPAP machine wouldn't work at all if it didn't compensate for leaks by varying the fan speed using feedback from a pressure sensor. Without feedback, the pressure would vary greatly between masks with different leak rates or as you inhale and exhale.
