UPDATE:DME SAGA

Post by porete » Fri Jan 13, 2012 3:53 pm

I just got back from my local DME. I am now the grateful owner of a PRS1!! The guy that does the cpap machines there told me flat out why the other two DME companies were giving me such a run around. APAP and CPAP are billed with the same code, however APAP is MORE expensive and the company doesn't make as much money, therefore the DME companies are more concerned about their bottom line than what the patient really needs. Thankfully, I was able to find a DME that sees things differently. Thank you all for the wonderful help and advice I've gotten while trying to find a scrupulous DME.
Does anyone know where I can find the Clinical Setup Guide for this machine? I want to figure out how to get my data on my pc. I have the user's manuals for the humidifier and the machine, just not the setup guide.

Your insurance pays for the ford escort, but you want a cadillac. That doesn't make other DMEs unscrupulous. "The guy" that does the CPAP machines probably isn't the guy that had to pay for the cadillac you demanded for the ford escort price. He's just an employee.

They don't want to sell her an escort--they want to put her on a moped; she needs a CAR!

No, the insurance company pays enough money for a Cadillac, but the DME pockets the extra money if he can provide the ignorant customer with a used yugo.

If it's midnight and a DME tells you it's dark outside, go and check for yourself.
