Spam Question - Recent or Old Hat?

I am just curious and will ask the old timers. Is this spate of SPAM a new thing or has this happened in the past and passed?

I guess I am asking if we can expect this recent spate to wane or if we are going to have to deal with it long term because I find it seriously irritating.

If I believed in hell I would wish there to be a special circle just for Spammers, Phishers and other n'ere do wells!

I joined spamcop.net and report every piece of spam received. My spam is down by at least 75%.
