my nostrils are sore!!!:)
any recommendations for what to put on them during the day would be greatly appreciated.
Simply Saline gel or AYR should help. When you are in the store and find the area these are carried, there is also one that has aloe vera in it. If the nostrils are really tender I would get it. The the saline gel can cause a burning sensation when you first use it. It is like setting your already sore nose on fire at first, but it will stop the continued pain and soreness.
my nostrils are sore!
During the day, a light coating of Chapstick will aid the healing. If they are really red and sore, an antibiotic gel like Neosporin might be necessary.
If you're not on supplemental oxygen, VASELINE, which I have been using for over two years with my Breeze nasal pilllows will prevent the irritation from occurring in the first place.
It's cheap (unlike AYR Gel), doesn't dry out overnight (like KY), and has caused absolutely NO deterioration of any kind to the pillows.

Adjustment
The vaseline did help so much! However, my father-in-law (who also uses a cpap) came over and looked at how my breeze was fitted. He look astonished, grabbed it and unscrewed the nasal pillows, angled the hose out, tightened it up, put it on my face and said - try this. No more sores! Healed so fast! The DME had the pillows pointing to the back of my nose and not angled up.
Someone else had a good explanation about how to fit the breeze:

This is basically what my father-in-law did.
