O2 Oximeters for Nighttime Monitoring

I've googled a few units, though wanted to see if someone could reccomend a O2 OxiMeter that will record levels while I sleep. Would be great if it did on the spot checks too.

I can highly recommend my Contec CMS-50D+. It's the cheapest recording pulseoximeter around, but it's a really great product. Very comfortable to wear, some people call them "finger burners", but I wear mine every night and don't have any discomfort or problem at all. This device does all you'll need an Oximeter to do, spot checks and all night recordings. It comes with free PC software that gives you great reports.

Before my purchase, the main reason why I bought the 50D+, is that it uses standard AAA batterys. Such devices usually end up in a drawer after a while and when you need it again the next time, you can bet that a rechargable battery will be dead. These batterys cost a good chunk of cash and must be sent by mail, so it will take time to get it working again, that is if the battery is actually exchangeable, if not, you'll have to discard the device and buy a new one.
The 50D+ records 4 whole nights for me on 1 set of Ikea AAA's.

I use the CMS50F which does both of what you want. Mainly wanted this one because of the watch feature. The only problem some of us have had is the band can be a little tricky to put on initially. Has worked great for me so far, good luck.

I like the 50F. It's more comfortable and the clock keeps the time so you don't have to set it every night.

Was just checking Amazon...the D was about $25 and the F about $127. Is that right....a $100 difference between the D and the F? Didn't expect to see such a big price gap.

The CMS 50-D Plus does look like an excellent buy right now. I think I remember supergeeky bringing his to the Atlanta cpap meeting once so we could see it.

That's why I got the 50F and it was under $100. I wore a sock over the 50H with a couple of slits cut for my thumb and a couple of fingers which worked pretty well, but it was tight and I had to switch fingers a few times during the night.

Without the "+" you are just getting a device that allows you to spot check 02 saturation. Not much good if you are sleeping. I have the D+ on my wish list! Currently $89 from one of the links that others have kindly put into this thread.

Oops, thanks for the correction. That makes more sense.

The CMS-50D+ Has a moulded foam insert that gives a large contact area on the finger. This means that even with low pressure it stays securely and comforably on the finger. I have worn mine at least 100 nights and it has not slipped off my finger more than two times.
Another big plus for us CPAP'ers is that the developer of the Sleepyhead software has this oximeter and the software will import oximetry data from the 50D+ and syncronise and display it with the data from your CPAP.
