Imho, much like cancer, OSA's root cause is likely to be multifactoral.
You can be skinny and die of a heart attack.

imho, being overweight has so many disadvantages that no one should seize on Max's story as an excuse not to do what's necessary.
Very true, rocklin - however weight is often the single issue blamed on OSA and other things like T2 diabetes by the media. I actually just contributed to a discussion on a diabetic forum about this exact thing. Yes, being overweight certainly has many disadvantages involving health, but it's not the CAUSE of these conditions, just exacerbates them, and in fact my endo believes that they may be the cause of the extra weight, not the other way round.

Amazing story! So glad you are still with us and now on the road to recovery. The only thing I will say is how awful that your doctor didn't make sure you had a machine to use immediately considering your ordeal. I can't believe they made you wait for one. The least they could have done is arrange for you to have a loaner until your machine arrived.
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

I agree, because correlation is not causation (that's my line of work... finding *causes* amongst correlations).

Thank you. Today was the first visit with the Dr. post diagnosis and he, too, was totally surprised it took about 3 weeks to get into the "Sleep Store" (the "DME" in this forum's vernacular) and get a machine. I'm guessing he picked up the phone later today. He wasn't pleased. I was told that since the visit to the "Sleep Store" was a 2 hour visit, it would take some time to get an open slot (appointment). There were other vendors I could have gone to, and I should have, but my cognitive abilities were impaired.

From what I have read here, finding a good honest DME is not easy. I have been pleased with mine so far. Continued Care of Long Island. I have been to the facility 3 times now. I have not done anything with them through their website, but it's
