OT: Dreaming about burping

Post by cpaptex » Mon Dec 19, 2011 10:25 am

A funny thing happened last night. The pressure built up in my mask again and it started to come out of my mouth. Normally, it would wake up. Last night my mind decided to incorporate the event into my dream and I dreamed that I had an uncontrollable burp that lasted what seemed to be forever. It was the strangest sensation especially in a dream. I did finally wake up and turned the unit off and on again and all was well once more.

I guess that I'm getting too used to the mask and the leaks, I was in deep REM sleep for sure. I'll discuss it with my Dr. if it happens alot. It made me smile once I realized what happened.
I'm getting better day by day. Few if any OA Events, mostly CAs and Hyponeas.

I have Interstital Lung Disease

Interesting what shows up in dreams.

I've had two CPAP related dreams that I remember.

The first I was having a sleepless night, but I did get to sleep long enough to have a dream about being sleepless all night.

The second I was hiking in the mountains while wearing my CPAP machine. People were looking at me strange, but I could breathe easily and run around the mountain paths effortlessly, so I was happy and didn't care about the looks. Perhaps my subconscious had decided to accept the CPAP.

Additional Comments: Pressure is 11-14. Old CPAP was a Resmed S6 Lightweight. Also have Profile lite mask. ResScan is actually version 3.14. Now I use Sleepyhead.

Nevermind the burp and dream, sounds like you don't have your therapy under control.

With what you just described I doubt your doctor will be any help. These are the kinds of problems the patient should be solving.

Suggest you get the software or use sleepyhead and maybe consider a full face mask.

Actually I do know what's going on because of JediMark's Sleepyhead. That's why I knew that it was just a leak. I was just being humorous about the dream. Again, in most cases I wake up because of the leak. Make the adjustment to my mask and go back to sleep. I didn't have any a cluster of apneas to trigger the rise in pressure. The pressure built up because of the leak and forced air out of my mouth. I was so deep in sleep, something that didn't previously happen, that my dream incorporated the incident into the dream that I was having. It was just a funny incident. Maybe the APAP machine should have an alarm on it and wake me up! NO THANKS, I prefer the dream.
