CPAP and INR

Post by e.mcgovern 1 » Wed Dec 21, 2011 10:23 am

I use a CPAP machine with face mark and headgear. Has anyone experienced problems with their INR. My mouth on a morning is completely dry and my tongue and lips are covered black with dried blood. Has any one experienced this before and has it affected their INR?

INR as in blood clotting factor? Dry mouth is common complaint. Blood in mouth is NOT a common complaint.

Do you use a humidifier? If so, what setting? What mask do you use? Any nasal issues during the day like congestion or drainage. Nosebleeds? Are you on any blood thinning meds?

Ditto what Pugsy said.

I'd be concerned where the blood was originating from if you're on blood thinners and having your INR tested regularly.

I don't see how XPAP would affect your INR, except for the fact that you are getting much more oxygen circulating your body which will improve/increase blood flow.

Definitely check it out though. I'm no medic, just one who's spent a year on blood thinners where INR became a suffix to my name. If a bag of Darrell Lea licorice sent me to the ER, then who knows what more O2 can do.

You posed a good question and I'll look for the answer with interest.

Cheers,
xena

If you are talking about the blood clotting factor because you take coumadin or something like that I can attest (as I am a coumadin patient) that CPAP does not effect my INR numbers.

Now, if you are talking about the Indian currency (ruppie) I have no idea, but I would fathom that someplace in India they have a call center for either one of the CPAP manufacturers....
