National Jewish sleep center?

I'm thinking of getting a second opinion about my sleep studies at National Jewish in Denver. Has anyone else been to one of their centers? Do they have their own in-system DME? Has anyone participated in a clinical trial? They are recruiting for one now.

Hope the weather has warned in EP after the cold snap a few days ago.

I have had sleep studies at the Denver and the Littleton National Jewish centers in past years as well as three at Swedish in Englewood and from a lay persons point of view; they seem to be about the same. The big difference is the doctors who interpret the results and it is my personal belief that NJ has about the best.

As for their own in-house DME, no they do not have their own. Actually APRIA services them although I have been told by several at NJ that they are VERY dissatisfied with APRIA and are looking at other companies. The problem is that most insurance companies now, especially those that deal with Medicare and Medicare policies only have APRIA available to their members that will deliver at home. Most insurance companies do have others on tap if you want to go into their “stores” but that is not very practical when you have to have oxygen deliveries monthly. If you are only concerned with the cpap or related equipment then probably any of the others will be fine.

Never been there but I've only heard good things about their sleep center. My own Doc at the VA suggested I contact them for better assistance than the VA can provide for my apnea.

As for the sleep trials, it appears one must have been diagnosed with OSA (doesn't say CSA) and have never been treated. Otherwise, I'd join their trial:

Thanks Roger and Ken! If it means going through Apria, it's not worth the trouble to be seen for a second opinion. I only thought I might go through NJ because I'd heard they provide such good service. I will call about the clinical study even though I probably don't qualify just because it might be interesting.

Our first DME/sleep center does research--but , knowing what I do now, I wouldn't let my dog sleep on their sofa.
Dunno about National Jewish--big sometimes means better--but not always.

The study I inquired about concerned increasing patient compliance through education and support, so I thought it might be valuable to someone just starting therapy. I didn't qualify because they want only straight Cpap patients, but it was worth a shot. NJ is rated very high in the nation for respiratory care including their sleep center.
