maybe leak ?

Hi can someone answer this Question Please, I have a nasal mask and i am getting moisture round the edge when i am useing it does that mean a leak ? cause there is no sound of one HELP PLEASE Thankyou........Bob

Your humidifier may be set too high

Sounds more like moisture/rainout.

Do you use a humidifier? If so, is it up too high? Is your machine lower than your head (water can't drip up)?

I agree that it sounds like rainout.

But it might not be as simple as turning the humidifier down: You may be getting rainout from the moisture you are exhaling into the mask: Moisture condenses when warm moist air hits something that is relatively cold: And compared to the temp of the air you are exhaling the mask and the air inside the mask are relatively cold.

Whats the humidity in your home? Our body naturally gives off humidity and augmented with the humidity in the air, that may be what is causing this. If it's not causing any issues, I wouldn't worry about it.

Unfortunately there is no way to monitor leaks with the ResMed Escape to make sure leaks aren't a problem but if you are sleeping well, feeling decent and that little bit of moisture in the mask (most likely rain out or condensation from your own breath as the others have said) isn't disturbing your sleep, then I wouldn't worry about it.

If it is bothersome and disturbing your sleep then even if it is not causing leaks, it is still unwanted because anything that disturbs our sleep is unwanted. Since you aren't using a humidifier there is nothing that can be adjusted on that end. So if it is disturbing sleep you need the room air warmer or fix some sort of cover that will insulate the mask (and not block vent holes) so condensation can be limited.

I know you don't use the mask that I use but this gives you an idea what I use to insulate my nasal pillows. If I didn't use this I would be snorting water all night and that does wake me up often.

One last thought. You can also use an independent heated hose.

I perspire (in a ladylike way, of course) onto the cushion surface that touches my face.
It sometimes affects the seal--not always.
I keep unscented baby wipes handy so I can wipe the cushion and my face to make it more comfy.
