I know how you feel, as I was diagnosed aroundy that age.
My suggestion is get a good CPAP as you really needed to start that like yesterday! Give it 1 month and see how you do with it.
Then during that time talk with your doctor about the surgery. As him about his patients that have had it, what there complications were, etc.
My doctor has a patient that had his uvula removed, which seems like a easy no problem thing to do. Though he told me that she has problems eating small veggies like corn or peas because they come up her nose. The Uvula is use to block that passage way.
I have my tunbinettes (sp) done in my nose, and it was a very good step for me to take. I still have stuffyness, but it is just not so bad.
I guess what I am trying to say is don't rush into anything. Start Cpap and then start looking at the surgerys and getting all the info you can hopefully from at least 2 doctors, and come back and share if you like on what they are going to do, and maybe some of the people who have gone down that road can tell you what they have experience.
Though if you do have the surgury, you might need the CPAP to keep you comfortable while it heals.
In any case, we are all here to help you and give you the best advise that we can, with what we know.
Please keep us updated.
Not sure what to do ??
