Anyone NOT need a humidifier

Post by rvbcave » Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:58 am

I have used a heated humidifier since the beginning. A few weeks ago I was so tired I didn't want to clean the resivoir so I plugged right into my apap. WOW! I woke up the next morning without the usual sinus problems. Sure my nose was a little dry but this is much better than the sinus trouble I have had. A note here: I live on the coast in Florida about 300 feet from the water. I wonder if the high humidity I have here is just enough to use my machine without the humidifier? I have been off the humidifier for about 10 days now and feel much better than before. Anyone in humid areas or on the ocean with similar experiences?

Robby, I live in humid Arkansas - I run my humidifier on 1.

You might want to hang onto your humidifier. Air conditioning takes the humidity out of the air. You might need the humidifier this summer. Also, you can use it as a passover.

(I seldom clean mine. I just add distilled water to it. It gets rinsed out when I pack it up for trips).

I,too, live in Fl- Jacksonville- and used a passover for a while, but do not use a humidifier at all.
I have never felt a need for it.
Maybe I am just rationalizing or too lazy to attend to a humidifier, but do not think one is all that helpful FOR ME!!

I could be wrong.

I use mine as a passover

I live in The Villages, Fl. I don't like to inhale warm air, so I use my Respironics REMstar Pro II with integrated humidifier in the passover mode, only. (I do not heat it.)

I tried the machine one night without the humidifier tank, and it seemed noisier. I think the humidifier tank muffles the sound the blower makes.

no humidifier

I don't have a humidifier but once in a while I think it might be good when the air is really dry. I live near the ocean and that may be why I can get by without one. Reading about all the water problems I'm glad to be without it most of the time but when the dry throat sets in I sometimes think I might get a humidifier.
Also my pressure setting is really low, 5.
