New Machine

Post by rairs9 » Thu Nov 24, 2011 9:20 am

I now have a nephew with sleep apnea, and he has a bad case I find out. I have not bought a machine in years so I am looking for help to give him advice as to what kind to buy. I have a Respironics Remstar Auto with A-Flex and it is just fine. He will be using a full-face mask as well. So help picking a mask would be helpful. He is trying out a loaner for 1 week before he has to buy. He is a severe case (108 episodes per hour) as his sleep study showed, so he needs to get at this right away. He is only 23 yrs old and falls asleep all the time so a good machine right away is imperative. I know that opinions vary so I am looking for a good cross section of opinions here. Please help me out and let me know was is new in the market in Auto machines and full-face masks. Thank you !!

You're right. I think you'll get a lot of opinions.

I love my Intellipap. Probably the best machine I've had (and I've had 3 or 4, including the resperonics auto with c-flex)
I got the humidifier and data module for it.

Full face mask..... not sure I can help you here. I have one and I could never get it to stop leaking. However I also have a Hybrid and that seemed to work out much better. I'm sure you'll get responses to the opposite, but.... that's how this game goes. We're all different.
