Pressure range ResMed S9

Post by sjm1027 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 6:55 pm

I am new to the ResMed S9 and would kike to know if the high low setting is important since the Cpap auto selects the pressure?
I need a pressure of 6 from my last sleep study. I set my Cpap to high of 20 and low of 4 and have seen from 6.5 to 7 being used during my sleep. One night I messed around with my mask and it leaked quite a bit... The pressure went to 10.5 and it was my worse night.
I was wondering if it's better for me to keep the huge range of pressure like I have or change it from 4 to 8 or does it matter since its auto set?

Thanks

It is auto set based on resmeds algorithm.

many people here have reported better results with a tighter range starting just below your titrated pressure and maybe +4 or 5 for the top end. So in your case that would be 5cm - 10cm.

You have already experienced the reason for setting a narrower pressure range as Uncle_Bob suggested. The pressure is driven up by large leaks as the APAP tried to compensate for those large leaks. And it CAN happen that the pressure gets driven up so high the APAP can't lower the pressure fast enough and thus encourages still more leaks which encourages a still higher pressure ....
