I went back to the DME today to get yet another mask. These people there are great. I have developed some sore spots on the sides of my nose. I ended up with the Swift FX nasal pillow. We discussed some of my concerns with the other masks. I then told her i had bought a SD reader and downloaded the Sleepyhead Software. She cautioned me that it could erase the data on my SD card and that my Doctor was going to to have a fit. He doesn't like his patients accessing the data and self treating. I told her I'm not adjusting anything i just want to see the data and monitor my progress. I have a issue when the Doctor decent want me to look at my own data. Has anyone ever heard of Sleepy head software erasing your SD cards data? My DME Respiratory Therapist doesn't have a issue with me looking at the data but cautioned it could erase the card.
The data she looked at on the card she stated looked fine. No major leakage and low AHI each day. Unless looking at this data has the possibility of erasing the data, I'm going to continue to monitor from time to time.
Thank you on the cleaning tips.
New Mask and some Advise on me accessing Data
Re: New Mask and some Advise on me accessing Data
SleepyHead will do absolutely nothing to the data on the SD card. You have nothing to fear.
If your dog ate your SD card or you lost it...the machine stores all but flow rate for a considerable length of time and can put it back on a new SD
The software that doctors offices use is different and there is a setting in it to erase the data but it is a specific choice. Doesn't happen by accident.

Re: New Mask and some Advise on me accessing Data
Thank you. I didnt think it would. I dont really care if my doctor has a problem with me reading it. Im not adjusting settings on the machine and that should be his concern. Its my life and its not hurting a thing by me looking at data and posting and getting very good information on my progress.
Re: New Mask and some Advise on me accessing Data
Has anyone esle been told not to access your data? What reasons would the doctor have? I was told that it could erase the data. As the post indicates in the reply, dont feel sleepy head software would erase the data.

My humble opinion? It's just a scare tactic. The DME has likely never heard of Sleepy Head and has no idea what you are talking about. And they likely think there is no way for patients to get their hands on any version of Encore. (It's remarkable how many DMEs don't seem to know that Encore Viewer is designed and sold as patient software.)wmcanally wrote:Has anyone esle been told not to access your data? There's a presumption out there amongst many of the professionals who are supposed to be treating us that we are either too dumb to understand our own data or that there is simply no reason for us to bother our pretty little heads about it all. All in all, I find it a very demeaning attitude towards the patient. It sadly reminds me of the way grown women were often treated in the 60s when they would ask questions about obtaining a credit card in their own name for example.
But to answer your question: To the best of my knowledge there is no way for Sleepy Head to erase the data. And there is no way for Encore Viewer to erase the data. But Encore Pro can erase the data.
And if you are genuinely paranoid about such things, you can protect/back up your data to your computer's hard drive so you could copy it back to an SD card if necessary. And you can move the little lock tab on the card to the locked position before inserting it into the SD card reader as long as you also remember to UNLOCK the card before you put it back in the CPAP machine.
