information on F/P 604

Hi there.

I was checking the bit of info available on my machine (I haven't bothered checking before since it doesn't give much) and the average overnight use shows 3.5 hrs. I sleep with my mask on all night every night for 6-8 hours. If I get up to the washroom I take off the hose but leave the machine on and that takes about 2 minutes once a night.

I also noticed that the pressure is set at 8 and as far as I knew it has been 9.

The machine is over 5 years old and I am due for another from my insurer but I am wondering if it is usual for a machine to not record properly when it is dying or do they normally just shut down?

I'm not familiar with your particular machine; but, it should not spontaneously change its pressure setting. As for the hours-per-night, perhaps the bathroom break is causing it to register each night as two and giving the average of those? The software should be smart enough not to do that, but all I can think of...

Sounds like Cpap therapy is working for you, and that you will soon be getting a new machine, anyway. If I were you, I would insist on a machine that records waveform flow data, so that you can download the data and see how you are doing, on a breath-by-breath basis, if needed. Auto machines are also quite cheap these days. Something like the Resmed S9 Autoset or the Respironics System One REMstar Auto with Aflex would be good choices. There are others.

Thanks Moresleep, I am going to ask for an auto machine. I don't qualify for a new one if this one is still working or can be repaired so I wondered if those odd readings would qualify for a machine that is losing it's effectiveness. I do love cpap and want to be sure I am getting the best possible treatment. Thanks again for your input.

I have a 604 thats a year and a half old...when I get up to go to the biffy, I turn it off and unhook my hose from my mask.
It has never not put out anything but what it was set up for. I would look into a new machine ...and get an auto, you will be VERY happy you did. Being able to check and keep track of your numbers, etc is a god send.

Thanks Nonwilson, The RT is coming on Tuesday to check my machine and I am really going to push for an auto machine. I appreciate the help.
