Hybrid Nasal Mask (Home Made)

Post by jimnsc » Wed Nov 09, 2011 2:57 pm

I've been experimenting with old masks I have but no longer use and I have come up with a very comfortable and ultra-quiet nasal mask. Several months ago one of our dogs rendered a Mirage FX mask useless but didn't hurt the headgear at all so I held on to it. I just mated it to a F&P FlexFit HC 401 nasal mask and slept in it last night for fun. Turns out I had one of my best nights in a long, long time. My head (7 1/8) prefers ResMed headgear over the F&P's I currently have on hand as it is smaller and softer.

I logged in 7.1 hours with no BR breaks, one of the lowest leak rates I can remember and an AHI of 1.8. The pressure line was almost level at 8.5 average (Rx 9). If you have any experience with the 401 you know how quiet it is. Man - what a night and I just wanted to share. Ever mix 'em up like that?

I think he is using the term, hybrid, to mean parts from two different masks to create a new, hybrid, version. He isn't referring to the Hybrid mask that has nasal pillows/oral covering. Just a terminology issue.... I suppose he could call his invention a Frankenmask
Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.
