ASV: ResMed vs. PR software
ASV: ResMed vs. PR software
Next week I will have a follow-up visit (after my titration study) and will almost certainly be prescribed an ASV machine. Which one I request may depend on which software I can use. I would prefer to have the software on my Mac, but if that isn't possible, I have access to a PC with Windows 7 (64 bit) on it. From the reading I've done on my own, neither of these options looks promising, but I'm operating on 2-3 hours of sleep last night so my thinking is less than clear. Is there any easy to install and easy to use software that will work for me on either the ResMed or PR ASV model? Or am I asking for the moon?

Re: ASV: ResMed vs. PR software
SleepyHead has a Mac version. Still under construction but will work. It is stable enough to get by.
Compatible with PR S1 ASV machines and the new ResMed ASV machines.
ASV data has been added recently.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyhead/
Jimbo's Mac build here http://sourceforge.net/projects/sleepyhead/files/

For PR S1 ASV machine if you opt for Encore Pro you must use Pro 2.5
For ResMed ASV machines I think ResScan 3.14 (I am unsure if 3.13 has the latest ASV machine data)
Of course both of these are Windows based software and to use them on a Mac one needs to set up a Windows environment on the Mac. It can be done though.
SleepyHead uses the same data as the other software but just presents it visually different.

Not sure about either of the programs when using windows emulation software on your Mac - perhaps someone else could pipe in about that.
But I can tell you that I've been using Resmed's ResScan software for my ASV on my Windows 7 64-bit system with no problem whatsoever.

“Ignorance” is not pejorative; it is simply a lack of information. “Stupidity” is an inability to utilize available information.
Re: ASV: ResMed vs. PR software
Assuming you could consider a Resmed S9 then ResScan version 3.14 supports the VPAP series of these machines.

Re: ASV: ResMed vs. PR software
Thanks! I think I must have been reading some older posts that said Sleepyhead didn't work with ASV. It's great to know I have some options. Does the ResScan 3.14 work with Windows 7? I may have been looking at an old version, but I thought it only went as far as Vista, which seemed strange to me. Again, I'm much more familiar with using a Mac, so I'll try that first. Thanks again! The people on this forum are my heroes!

Re: ASV: ResMed vs. PR software
ResScan 3.14 should work with Windows 7. Some recent problems with Windows 7 and ResScan have been driver related and not common. Not everyone has had a problem with Windows 7 and ResScan.
I don't think it will work on a Mac unless you set up a Windows environment though. I think member TalonNYC has done it though. He could explain what is needed better than I can.
Somewhere in his posts he explained how but I forget just where. You can search is older posts or just send him a private message.

And yes, the older versions of SleepyHead did not offer ASV data but it has recently been added.

Pugsy, would SleepyHead work with my machine? Or did I think I read somewhere recently that you said it won't work with anyone who has to use a Smart Card?Pugsy wrote: And yes, the older versions of SleepyHead did not offer ASV data but it has recently been added.

Re: ASV: ResMed vs. PR software
Nope. Sorry. Smart card users require the special smart card readers and don't know how to get inside the smart card's files to figure the files out to write a little program. Those smart card files can't be opened up for viewing and dissecting like the SD cards. Well no easy way I guess. I imagine there is some way to do it but since they are old technology not much interest in putting forth the effort.Kody wrote: Pugsy, would SleepyHead work with my machine? No. But I have heard stories of people trying to get it to work. Not sure what luck they had though.Perrybucsdad wrote:Uncle_Bob...are you saying ResScan 3.14 works on a Mac??
