Data capable models?

Howdy,

I was diagnosed about two months ago, did a Google search and ended up here. I read many words of wisdom here, had my Doc write specifically for the ResMed S9 and I love my machine. I am sleeping all through the night and feeling GREAT! I am a total convert, and luckily took to it like a fish to water, I had no problem with wearing the mask.

On to my question:

My girlfirend also has apnea and her Resprionics Pro M (can't remember the rest of the name) is 5 years old. She is eligible for a new machine, and wants a fully data capable one. I know the ResMed models (S9 AutoSet and Elite) but don't know which current models of the Respironics are fully data capable, can someone help me out here?

Do the new Respironics models give any overnight data on the machine data screen? Her current only has an average of 7 or 30 days.

Would the humidifier from her M series work with the newer generation of Respironics machines (asked in a possible effeort to help keep costs down)?

Thanks for all the help to get me where I am today, and I will hopefully be able to start giving some knowledge back to the forum soon.

I think almost all APAPs are data capable whereas CPAPs are not.
Better knowledge, anyone?

I don't think the PR System One models have a lot of onscreen data like the Resmed machines; Pugsy or one of the other PR System One users will most likely answer that.

The PR System One full data models are the Pro (cpap) and the Auto (apap/cpap) - ones to avoid are the DS150, the Plus, and the AutoIQ.

I have both the M Series APAP and the PR System One APAP... Humidifier for the M series will NOT work with the PR S1 machine.

Data sucks on the PR S1 machines that offer full data just like on the M Series. That same 7/30 average and a Large leak time % which is next to useless.

Good news is with the new PR S1 machines they use a SD card so no need for the expensive card reader.
If computer has a SD slot nothing else is needed to use the card and software. If no SD slot on computer any generic cheap SD card reader/adapter plugging into one of the USB ports will work. $10 or so at Walmart.

There is easily available software for the PR S1 machines. I have explained it here with some examples.

Full data machines.
PR System One Remstar Auto CPAP with AFlex (APAP machine) model # DS550
PR System One Remstar Pro CPAP with CFlex+ (straight CPAP machine) model #DS450

Machines that only gather hours of use data and thus not full data and of course straight cpap machines
PR System One Remstar Plus with CFlex Model #DS250
PR System One Remstar Plus with no Flex option Model #DS150
There may even be a model DS100.

Obviously...things to note are model names and if they are confusing...model numbers.

While the new PR System One Auto IQ CPAP will offer full data it will only run in APAP mode 30 days. Waste of money IMHO.
If a person wants APAP then get a full time APAP, it can always be used in straight CPAP mode. I keep forgetting this one is even available. It is new. It appears to have DS450 model number. Probably same machine as regular APAP but with different firmware inside to limit the APAP function.
