I believe it varies between insurance companies. My provider wants 4.5 hours per night (average).

Five hours is pretty good, but keep working at it as much as you can. My lifestyle is a huge issue for longer compliance, but I'm currently just a tad under 7 hours per night.

Good luck!

I believe that 4 hours per night is considered the minimum to be "compliant".
I have also come to believe that with this therapy, "more is better".

Best wishes,

Who checks?

I had the machine almost 2 years before fighting the necessary battles with ENT, masks, etc. before becoming "compliant" and no one, not a soul every asked nor ever billed. My compliance was zero, nada, zilch, nil for that time.

I'm not proud of that, just saying it.

Comliance for me is - in bed, interface on, machine on. Out of bed, no interface (it would look pretty silly otherwise

To All,
I think my insurance requirement was 4-6 hrs per night. I laughed at the DME when he said I met those requirements. This was back when I would wake up and the mask (machine running) would be on the floor, on my pillow, in my hand, everywhere but on my face!!!! But, I can't complain, my insurance paid for everything, no deductables on sleep study or CPAP equipment, I am so grateful for that!!!!! I know alot of you out there aren't as fortunate. Someday, I'll be able to afford some software, so I can actually see how I'm doing!!!!

Compliance...?? Who will pay for this therapy..."I need to have 4 or 5 hours to 'be compliant' and INSURANCE/MEDICARE will PAY!"

YOU are the person who will pay if you are NOT compliant with CPAP therapy.
