Just curious

I know this is of no use to you, but I may be in a similar situation. I just purchased over $1200 worth of cpap equipment and am now getting vertigo. I am almost 100% sure it is from the cpap treatment. Why are you selling your equipment? Are you having similar problems? Thanks!

air forced into eustachian tube?

Post by Dizzy » Mon Feb 27, 2006 11:35 pm

I am no medical doctor so this is just my theory. With CPAP, air is being forced into the "ENT system". For some people maybe the air takes the path of least resistance which happens to be the ear? Air gets into the Eustachian tube (inner ear) and throws off your balance.

I didn't come up with this...just have been discussing with co-workers and they came up with this. Actually sounds possible to me....but again, I'm no doctor.

I did go to an ENT to get professional advice but she didn't think it was related.

I posted under another forum as to why I think it's the cpap treatment. Basically, when I use it I get the vertigo. Takes about 2 weeks for it to totally go away once I stop using cpap. One night back on, and I get the vertigo again.

Goofproof, I know you're using a pretty high pressure straight CPAP and don't recall you ever talking about having monitoring software either. Any chance going to an APAP, or even a BiPAP, might lower your pressure for enough of the night to help alleviate vertigo?

Just a thought.

Bill

the reason it's 4 sale, is cuz it was intended 4 my father but he passed away and i know the trouble we went through to get it and how much it costs It helped him out 100 % but was only able to use it for 2 weeks the machine Has all the bells & whistles and a smart card chip with it ....Id just like to recoup some of what we paid 4 it and let someone on the other hand get a GOOD DEAL the bid for all the stuff on E-BAY was up 2 $500 before they pulled it , like i said it has a lot of extras call me in michigan @ 269-329-0062 for any other info you'd like

cpap for sale

Post by tomjax » Tue Feb 28, 2006 9:50 am

You are in for a surprise on the price of PAP in the arftermarkets.

I got a Remstar plus AUTOPAP with breeze and smartcard for 275.00.

I did this by immediately contacting an ebay seller before it was cancelled and dealing directly with him after it was cancelled.
used for less than 2 months.
You may try yahoo auctions since they are still allowed there.
You can check the prices of closed auctions.

If it was covered by insurance, you can be assured the price the insurance paid was considerably less than the amt billed.

Just the dynamics of the free market.

Tomjax,

You're killing me!!! I should have tried that too...I paid over $1200 for pretty much the same equipment that you have!!!

Oh well...it's well worth the money if I can get past this vertigo!!!
