cardio-pulmonary..scary

Post by needingu » Tue Feb 28, 2006 4:32 pm

I have just been dx with OSA. I knew I was a snorer. Have threatened some drastic measures to cure it..(worryng more about MDH feeling in having to hear me than a medical condition..which I did not fully understand nor appreaciate). After possibly 10-12 yrs of doing other than dainty snoring , I find there is a dx. How did I find out for sure. My cardiologist did and echogram of the heart and found increased pressure in the right side and determined that it was usually an indication of sleep disorder. I had had 2 other sleep test but could not go to sleep aobut 8 yrs ago.. I as for something to help me sleep during this one. and was prescribed Ambien 30 min before the test...Well I was asleep in 10 min. and did a very successful test. (Something should be given in every test IMHO as it would save money in repeating..I was told this pill would not interfer with the test..
Now I had been waking up smothering and heart fluttering.. Could someone allievate my fears of having done so much damage I may not repair even after doing the BiPaP. Also I wonder if any of you have B12 deficiency.. Your post have alread helped me so much
and given me courage to mask up every night which I intend to do with the hope I will be better. I have always been so active RN, stained glass, gardener but last summer it seemed so hot I just let it all slide. CAn I expect some of this energy to return and how long....

Give it time.......relax and make friends with your equipment.........Don't think in terms of 'scary'. Think of it is......something to help you live better. The human body is a marvelous thing......it can do sooooo very much to repair itself. Not all new things in our lives are bad. Every one of us here has discovered that at some time or another.

You are lucky, I had to go the whole course, and not having a smooth recovery, too many problems too long, as I have sais "I've been rode hard and put away wet too many times". As soon as you make friends with CPAP treatment and follow and control your own treatment, your body stops damaging it's self, recovery time varies but it does get better.

Eat correctly, and treat your health as needed you can live a fuller life again. Jim
