Quietest machine?

Anyone have a recommendation for the quietest machine on the market? I don't care how much it cost, I want the quietest one. Any suggestions?

If you go to cpap.com or the manufacturers' website of each machine, it will tell you the decipel level of each machine. Look at the machine's specification data. What ever machine you get, be sure it is data-capable.

It's able to give you daily reports on your pressures, AHI's, etc. That way you can see your progress and how your breathing is doing each night. Without the data, you would have no idea (other than the subjective 'how do you feel') how well it is working or not.

If you decide to become a permanent fixture here at cpaptalk.com and register (highly recommended), someone here will be able to PM you the software needed to download the data. Some folks on the forum have even made their own software that works great with certain machines.

I don't even realize I have a machine... it's that quiet and I highly recommend it.

I second that on the S9. I have a backup Intellipap Auto bought from a member here and my S9 is quieter. I can't even hear my S9 and sometimes have to double check to make sure I have it on.

My S9 is also so quiet I have to double check sometimes to be sure it is on. My hubby doesn't hear the machine, only the normal whispery sound of my respirations & without snoring, so he is thrilled. S9 is also fully data capable. Uncle Bob can direct you to the software if you get one.

Each person is an individual and can "hear" perceived sounds differently. Different tones and pitches can be perceived differently. I don't hear my machine. My husband often pokes me to tell me to wake up and put the mask on and turn on the machine....it will be already on. We aren't hearing impaired either. Both have had recent hearing tests.

The best thing to do if at all possible is try the different brands side by side. See if you perceive one to be louder than another. Hook the hose up to them and try them. Can't judge by just turning them on. A difference in 2 or 3 decibels is going to awfully hard for the human ear to notice a difference unless especially sensitive to those tones and pitches.

Brand spanking new S9 Autoset picked up yesterday. Extremely quiet and comfortable. Can hear no air movement whatsoever. And no nasal pillow leaks using Lansinoh. Thanks for the tip.

That should be a fully data capable machine. Some machines have data to indicate compliance for insurance companies to verify that you are doing treatment as part of whether they will pay for the machine. Also a full auto machine.

You should go to your DME to see the machines you are considering. There is slight difference in the sound between the two machines that I would buy for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, although there is more likely to be a greater different between two different machines of the same model. One is more likely to hear conduction through the air tube than the machine.

The two machines I would consider for simple Obstructive Sleep Apnea would be the S9 Autoset, and the PR System One REMstar Auto CPAP Machine with A-Flex..


The other machine types are for bi-level or some manufacturers name it Bi-Pap, which is more expensive and a vent (for ventilator) machine which is nearly a hospital level machine which is really expensive.

However, if you buy the machine from the company which provides the space for this forum. CPAP.com, then you will find the PR machine I mentioned costs less than their price for the ResMed manufactured S9 Autoset because Resmed does not give a discount for volume to CPAP.com, which PR does. However, there is not a lot of difference between the performance value of the machines. Some say that one machine has a slightly higher noise than the other. Some say they can not hear their machine (I think both machines get the same comment) at all.
