Great Sleep Doc and DME Experience

Post by SMenasco » Wed Oct 26, 2011 3:39 pm

Had a consultation appointment with my sleep doctor for the purpose of obtaining a prescription for a replacement machine. My old unit is just over 5 years old. I told him that my old S8 Compact bearings were a little noisy and the electrical contacts on the humidifier were a little intermittent. I told him I slept mostly on my side and my present pressure setting was 12. He recommended replacement and said I should have an auto machine. I asked him which one and he said "the Autoset, not the Escape." He wrote me a prescription for a ResMed S9 Autoset with the matching humidifier. Went to the DME (same hospital system) and picked it up. I had decided I was going to buy the ClimateLine tubing since I understand it is an option. I asked them their price and told them I would probably order it off the internet if their price was somewhat higher. They gave me one, no charge. I had a great night, much more comfortable and less noisy than the S8. Settings are 8 - 16. It's so quiet I can't even hear it at all. However, the pressure relief flapper was making a slight single popping sound upon exhalation, so I turned off the EPR, since I don't have any trouble exhaling against the pressure. The popping subsided considerably. I also like the instant on option, where it comes to life when you breathe into the pillows. Don't need no stinking ramp, just shoot it to me. Appears to be a quality machine. Hope it continues in this mode. Thanks to all of you that recommended the S9 Autoset.

It is an excellent machine. You will be very happy with it.

Do you have the ResScan software? I don't remember. If you don't and want it here is how to get it.
I will post the information anyway, just in case someone new reads it and wants it.

Uncle Bob has software and clinician manual links in his signature.

There is a tutorial to help learn how to manage the software here...for those who are new to the software.
