Rec'd my autopap 420E today.Got a ''loaner'' humidifier. Tried it for a few hr.
Had to get pul. dr. okay to change the lower setting. They had me starting at 8, way to high for me, felt like I was suffocating, opposite of others who think the lower press. seems tiring. I do not like the higher end of the pressure
feels like wind blasting up into my head. Sinuses alread puffed up.
I will see how my night goes. My DME/RT was very helpful, much better than some other situations I've seen on this msg board.
Wish me luck for night one. I'm starting a journal. See where I am in the future.
One question, what percent humidification do most people find comfy?
RT recommended 30-40%, felt drippy, so I downed it to 20%. Guess I have to play with this, huh?
any ideas?
Heated humidifiers/settings
20 %. Thats desert like. It doesn't work like that. Just turn the humidity control unitl you feel comfortable. It will change as the weather changes. Needing to be increased in winter, as the seasons change. I keep mine cranked up to the stops. Heated hose is great to prevent rainout and ny nose loves it.

There's two things you get from the heated humidifier - wetter air and warmer air. So it really does depend on the climate and weather as well as your own personal comfort-level as to what is the best setting for you.
I found when I started six months ago, I found the heated humidifier helpful, but I think that was more because it was warming the air; now that it's (very hot) summer here, I've taken to not turning the heat on at all, and just letting it be a "passive" humidifier.
