ResMed Pro-2 vs ResMed Pro Auto

Post by roztom » Mon Feb 20, 2006 8:42 pm

I just got the PRo-2 and wake up during the night with it at full - 9 for me. I then hit ramp to knock it down so I can get to sleep. I only have a problem while in REM.
I asked my sleep person if the auto cpap would be better for me since most of thew time I'm not in REM.
He told me to stay with the Pro-2.
SInce I'm new to this I will follow but if you feel I should pursue it a bit further, your input would be appreciated.

I just started CPAP 4 days ago, so if I'm going to make a change - it must happen ASAP.

Thanks,

Tom

When you say 'at full' I am interpreting that as meaning it has completed ramp and is at its titration setting.

Can you provide more details ?

What do you hope tha AUTO will do for you ?

Cheers

Yes, it has completed ramp & it is at titration level. WHen I wake up during the night, I hit the ramp button to quiet things down to get back to sleep.
My thought was that assuming I wasn't having an apnea that the AUTO would handle things better and moght not wake me up.
Just a thought - not sure it would make a difference.

Tom

roztom,

How do you know you're in "REM" sleep stage when this happens?
What is your minimum RAMP pressure setting?
What is your RAMP time?
Are you using C-Flex?....and if so, what is the setting?
Do you have a humidifier?....and if so, what is the setting if you're using it heated?
If a pressure of 9 is waking you up, I would think that the changing pressures of an APAP would wake you up also.
From what I've read, most of the users turn off the RAMP feature or don't use it.

Best wishes,

Den

THanks for the info. I don't know my settings. OBviously I'm new.
When I do wake up I have found it good to use the ramp for getting back to sleep.
It is set for 45 min. I use the heated humidifier also.
While I don't know my settings - I was trying to appreciate the differences between the Pro-2 and an Auto. I know what they do but I wonder for those who have used both if there was a significant comfort difference.

Thanks,

Tom
