Ahi? hi?

Post by neon » Sun Feb 19, 2006 8:21 pm

Hi

I have a Resmed Vantage.
Anyways slept last nite and decided to go into the clinical menu to see what my results were.
Anyways under AI - 1.9 , HI - 9.2 AHI = 11.2
Leak - .20L usage - 8.38 hrs, Pressure - 7.8

Does that mean my AHI of 11.2 is that for the whole duration of sleep or is it per hour?

I have been on cpap for 2 mth now and I am still tryin to adjust to exhaling out agaisnt the pressure.

I was put on autopap pressure 8-16 but I would always be awaken when the pressure would rise say to around 12, and I would get awaken.
So out of frustration I decided to go another route by using straigh cpap and enabling EPR(not available in APAP mode).
I have started out at a low pressure of 6 and I have worked my way up to 8.6.
At a low pressure my AI and HI were very high but as I increased the pressure it has obviously gone down and atm Iam at a pressure of 8.6.
So at this stage in the game pressure of 8.6 = AHI of 11.2.

I think this is the best way for me to adjust slowly to the machine even though Iam at the incorrect pressure but iam hoping to work my way up and monitor my AI and HI and get them down to an acceptable level.

Sorry for the rambling

The indexes (indices) are rates, that is, events per hour. The formula is:

(events x 60) / total minutes

Hope that helps.

Hi Neon,
If that's rambling, its the best kind there is - much in there for others to learn from:

About facing difficulties proactively
About taking control of you own therapy
About training yourself to get used to the pressure gradually
About patience
About changing things systematically.

You're on the right track!

Keep it up, and good luck.

O.

It is the average (mean) per hour.
