Yeah, well, w/my Resmed VPAP Auto I don't have to wait more than 15 - 20 minutes.

Hi Slinky:

The red/blue lines are the IPAP pressure and the EPAP pressure.
The red line is the IPAP, the blue line is the EPAP.
They only look like straight lines because the pressures are not changing. If you have a pressure change with an auto machine, the lines will move up and down. It is much clearer when you look at the graph on the daily summary chart - the pressure changes are more obvious.

The dots are as yet not identified. I think I will rummage around in SleepyHead graphs and see if I can see a connection.
Just looked at last night's data and SleepyHead reports them as UOE, unidentified event. So we still don't know.

Thanks, JDS. According to NotMuffy, those black dots are pressure changes. And they may be. In some areas it is apparent that there was a pressure change in conjunction w/their appearance on the wave form graphs. In others it is not. That may be due to the pressure change being minute, for instance just 0.5 cm increase or decrease. Maybe if I increase the size of the wave form graph page to 200% or so it will be more obvious. I have a lot of confidence that NotMuffy knows whereof he speaks about this.

Re: PR SystemOne BPAP Auto Question - minimum pressure change??

Post by JDS74 » Thu Sep 01, 2011 6:36 pm

Slinky:

I expanded the graph to 400% and looked at several from my graphs for yesterday. No indication whatever that any pressure change was related to the dots. On my graph, I can easily see a 0.5 cm H2O pressure change.
On some dots, there is correlated pressure changes perhaps a second or two offset. On most there is none visible at all.

However, if the pressure change is a lot less than that, it would not be noticeable.

I wonder, does anyone know the resolution of pressure that the PRS1 can control?
I've always assumed that the minimum change that can be controlled is 0.5 cm because that is the minimum increment in the clinicians menu. I'm sure that the pressure transducer in the machine must have a resolution finer than that. If that's so, then perhaps these dots are indicating a tiny increment of pressure.

Top line is your IPAP setting. Bottom one is the EPAP setting. There are TWO scales on those wave form graphs is you look carefully. One is cmH2O and one is LPM (if I recall correctly). If you run in Auto those red and blue lines vary independently of each other for the most part. If you use the ramp, you'll see when it's ramping up because the two lines will steadily increase from starting ramp pressures to therapeutic pressure settings.
And did anyone ever find out what those doggone black dots on those red and blue lines are??
Ther was speculation a while back that these were tied to how Pro pieces the data together, but it was only speculation and no one really knows. It would be interesting to see if these black dots correspond to some of SH's "unknown events"
