Swift - Remstar Auto C-Flex conflict?

Post by greyhound » Tue Feb 14, 2006 12:23 pm

According to cpap.com, the Mirage Swift nasal pillow may "impact the performance" of the Remstar auto c-flex. Does anyone have any experience with this combination or have any idea how it might impact the auto's performance?

Hmmm??? Do they specifically say the Swift can impact the performance? Or are they talking about nasal pillow and/or prong systems in general.

Don't have that machine (and I'm sure someone else will speak up) but I'm not aware of anyone having conflicts between the Swift and any of the major machines currently on the market.

I have the Swift AND the REMstar Auto with c-flex and heated humidifier. The combination works just fine. Anytime you mix manufacturers... a Resmed Swift with a Respironics xPAP, the manufacturers do this little song and dance about "if you use someone else's mask with our machine we won't guarantee performance". It probably has a lot to do with them testing their machines with THEIR masks and not those from other manufacturers.

In any event... the Swift works great with the remstar auto. I'm better now than I've been in the last 5 years. This combination is a winner in my book. My titrated pressure is 7cm. I set the auto between 6 and 10. If you're above about 11cm pressure the Swift *might* be noisey for you. At least it seems the ones who find it noisey generally have pressures of 11 or higher.

Your mileage may vary

The warning was included in cpap.com's "In-House Comments" on their Remstar Auto C-Flex web page. Because it didn't mention the Swift specifically, I e-mailed them and they confirmed that the Swift could impact the Remstar's performance

My guess is that it relates to the built-in leak rate of the mask.

It may skew the Remstar data.

Just a guess.
