Yesterday I had xrays of my spine and discovered bone degeneration (should've found the vitamin D absorbtion problem sooner, I guess). Must have PT and OT assessments before I can return to my moonlighting job. Tomorrow I have a CT scan of my kidneys, followed by a cystoscopy. Idiot PA (male) misdiagnosed my bleeding earlier in the ER, so I had a pelvic ultrasound last week (I told him I know the source of the blood, but he's the expert). Hubbie had an endoscopy today. Daughter who had a CT scan already this year for her kidney stones is having a diagnostic sleep study next week, and I can guarantee that she'll be going back in for a titration and a pap. Maybe that will help her asthma, and maybe she'll be less tired, helping with her thyroid and polycystic ovarian syndrome, too. My ASV was a 2011 purchase. Oh, and hubby and I both have had stress tests with echocardiogram this year (mine 'cause of the CA's, but hey, it now came in handy for the anesthesiologist before my cysto).
So I guess I can quit complaining about the cost of our insurance for this year.... between all this bad luck and the meds for all my hubby and daughter's problems we've more than gotten back what's been paid in.
And hey, between the pain from kidney/bladder stones and the disintegrating spine, I'm able to stay awake until midnight in order to take my prednisone (I'm allergic to the CT dyes).
My poor insurance company!
Re: My poor insurance company!
Never feel sorry for the insurance company. They make the same money regardless, if they fall short, they just increase the premiums next year. Insurance works in groups, everybody gets it and you've got to figure that other than routine stuff, most people don't use it. So in essence, others are paying for your treatment. But insurance company ALWAYS gets paid.

Oy, Bons! What a rough year! My momma told me there would be days like these - but she never told me they would come in bunches like bananas!!!! Thank God for insurances during years like this!!
1970 and 1980 we had years like this. I threatened to run away from home 31 Dec 1989 and not come back until 01 Jan 1991!!! But we made it thru 1990 and the years since w/o any overwhelming strings of events, thank God. Well .... 1994 was NOT one of my better years .... but at least it was just me and not the whole family!
Good luck and God bless from here on!!!!

Re: My poor insurance company!
I identified the male PA because I kept trying to tell him that he's a guy, and I've had 40 years of "female" issues (no pun intended ), so I thought I had a better idea of where the bleeding was coming from and other (TMI) clues from the frankness of the blood as well. Even after the urinalysis came back showing blood he insisted that I just didn't prepare well enough for the clean catch.
Medical professionals can be so dumb sometimes.
Found out that he got his degree from the school that my daughter turned down and went elsewhere for her PA degree. Good thing!

Re: My poor insurance company!
You might reach stop-lee on your out-of-pocket co=pays this year! I managed to get there in May of this year, probably the only time in about 2o years i have reached stop-loss, so I am getting everything done now that I have put off up until now. I had a sleep study in early Jan and titration in late Jan, got my CPAP and all those supplies in Feb, and got my INR testing machine and supplies in January because I had a blood clot and have to take bloodthinner medicine. I ahve also had an ER visit and then 3 day admission for a broken T11 vertebra in March, then had to have a surgical kyphoplasty to repair the break after the Drs reversed my Warfarin and gave me IV Heparin for two days, and then I had all kinds of lab work and MRIs and CT scans of my back too. Ny Dr found that I was Vit D deficient and ran a bunch of Vit D, calcium, and parathyroid tests in addition to my normal quarterly cholesterol and thyroid test, so I have cost the ins co a LOT of money this year. I am also having my colonoscopy and mammogram and pap test in a few months. I have been putting off the colonoscopy since 2007 because hubby lost his job in 2008 and we did not have the necessary co-pay before now because of the stop-loss. We have paid our share of high ins premiums for years, so when an opportunity like this presents itself, I have to get all health maintenance costly stuff done too. I do the other stuff, pap and mammo every year, but this year I am going for broke!
Keep the faith, your family's health might settle down now for awhile, mine did since the last time I reached stop-loss.
