Post by ThirdOutOfFive » Tue Aug 02, 2011 7:13 pm

Just got my dx and machine, but have been dealing with fibro for 17 years. Does anyone have experience with these 2 dx? I would love to hear from you.

I do. Treating my OSA has made my fibro symptoms pretty much disappear. I also had to treat my Vitamin D deficiency.
Diagnosed 08/31/10. Titration 9/02/10. Started CPAP 11/01/10. Auto mode 10-15cm. Alternate mask GoLife for her. Back up mask Full-life full face w/Pad-a-cheek mask liner. Comtec CMS F50 wrist pulse oximeter. Sobakawa Cloud Pillow, Sleepyhead software

Wow! I sure hope I can say that at some time in the future. Thanks for the encouragement.

Google Avram Gold M.D. and UARS. He talks about the relationship between UARS and functional somatic syndromes such as fibromyalgia, etc. I don't see why it would be different for OSA.

Forgive me, I am new. is OSA obstructive? If so then you can count me in too.

I was diagnosed with fibro 2 years ago. Since being told I might have sleep apnea, I've been sleeping propped up and suddenly my fibro symptoms disappeared. I am thinking fibro was a misdiagnosis and that these were side effects of the apnea. was officially diagnose with apnea (16 per hour) last week. I get my machine next week probably but am expecting to never have that awful pain again. so far it's been 5 weeks without it except this morning - last night i slept flat and all my symptoms returned. co-incidence? i think not.

let me know if you want to chat "thirdoutoffive"

Not necessarily a misdiagnosis, more like a diagnosis of a symptom. Fibromyalgia has no officially known cause, it's one of those categories where they put you when they don't know what is wrong. So therefore one of it's unknown causes could be OSA.
