wrong mask type selected in setup - implications?

Post by wolewyck » Sat Jul 30, 2011 9:07 pm

I'd gone back and forth a couple times trying my old Swift FX pillows vs. a FF mask and just realized that for some time now, I had left my machine setting on FF even thought I've actually been using the pillows Not sure how that might affect the reliability of the data that has been being recorded (AHI, leaks... ?)

Thoughts appreciated!

Leak rate only might be affected.
Since ResMed subtracts intentional vent rate prior to reporting and the FFM probably has a little higher vent rate the leak rate may be off a little but it won't be off by astronomical amounts. In other words baseline might be off a bit.

AHI would not be affected.

the only other thing that you probably notice is that when it's set to FF... that the smart start doesn't work.

Don't feel that you are alone! I left mine on nasal pillows after I switched to a ffm. Didn't discover it for 10 days or so. It may not effect the data but it sure did blow the ffm off my face! Pressure was much better after I corrected it. I am not sure that the ASV even has a smart start.
