Rather than changing pressures, the data needs to be checked! You may still be having leaks and that can be why you are snoring and not feeling better. If you leaking, raising the pressure will only make things worse--more leaks, less effective therapy. Before you go changing anything, the leak rates need to be looked at on the software data.

There is a "large leak" report on your machine's screen. It's pretty useless, except that if it shows ANYTHING, even 1% you probably do have major leak problems. THe software is needed to really see what's going on. If you don't feel that you can learn enough to check the leaks on software yourself (there are free programs here on this forum that will allow you to see the data on the card that's in the back of your machine), then make certain when you go to the hospital to have everything checked out they download the card and check for leaks. The leaks must be under control FIRST.

I use a FF mask and when my nose is congested I breathe through my mouth. As long as my open mouth isn't breaking the mask seal, it's OK, but my mouth still gets uncomfortably dry. I much prefer breathing through my nose.

Even with a full face mask, it's better to breathe through your nose for several reasons. The air is humidified better, you won't dry out your mouth, you may have fewer problems like gas, etc.

However, breathing through the mouth is a lot better than not breathing. Or breathing with difficulty.

Mouth breathers have to stop it through various tricks or simply use a full face mask. Non mouth breathers have more options.

We'd all prefer not to be mouth breathers. I'd prefer not to be an apneac at all. We have to deal with the problems we have.

As mentioned leaks will cause snoring and make therapy not effective bc your pressure drops.

You need to write your questions down and ask you ENT as s/he will have a view of your anatomy that we do not. Tho we as a group are always up for a WAG.

Why is it so wrong?
I think Dr Park or one or his speakers mentioned that nasal masks are more effective because when breathing thru the nose the increased air pressure moves the tongue out of the way (opening the airway more) where a FFM doesn't.

It has been said the basic flaw in human anatomy is air and food share the same passage way.

That might be mask and/or hose noise and not real snoring. If you sleep with someone ask them if you are still snoring. I previously used the Hybrid mask and it showed high VS score. I videotaped myself sleeping one night and I didn't snore at all - the machine was picking up something else as snoring.
