PR 1 Resistance settings

Post by Bookbear » Tue Jul 26, 2011 8:40 pm

Does anyone have information on what each of the 5 System One 'resistance settings' stands for in terms of mask vent flow? I use a Puritan Bennett Breeze, and of course, it does not have a setting number.

TIA!

I forgot to mention that the chart that socalmonkey posted last year via Photobucket has disappeared.

Resistance setting does not affect vent flow reporting if that is what you were trying to allow for. It does not provide a specific vent rate for mask types. I have experimented with different settings with my mask and the leak/vent rate was unchanged no matter what setting.
For non Respironics masks I saw where it says to set it to 0 which turns it off.
I have that chart posted in one of my posts and can't get into my Photobucket account to repost it. I will see if I can find the post.

I have a Headrest and last week I had an issue with my machine. The DME called
Respironics and they told I was supposed to set resistor at zero but if I had the resistor set at another setting it was not supposed to make a problem.

I have it set at X3, I have noticed if the resistor is set at X2 the auto start takes more time to start, that's the only thing I have noticed. I prefer to set the resistor at a value closed to the value for a Respironics mask, if that function is there it should do something and to me a mask is a mask regardless of the manufacturer and the mechanical characteristics should be similar. So to me all what I need to do is to find the good setting. I chose X3 because it is intended for a small nasal pillows mask and my mask has a high restriction level.
