monitors

Hi there, was wondering if anyone knew where i can purchase a monitor to alert me when little one has stopped breathing. He is nearly 2 so all the ones i can find are up to 1yr old.

I would suggest you ask your pediatrician. Otherwise just google apnea monitor and there are a lot of links including monitors for children and adults.

eBay seems to have regular sales of infant breathing monitors.

as a start do an eBay search using (Nellcor, Ohmeda) as the search
args & see what pops up. The medical equip companies tend
to have lots of diff gear.

If nothing else, a quick look at eBay may produce info about monitors.

Hmmm, apnea monitors should be able to handle up to a 3 year old. It may be that the need to monitor (SIDS, AOI, AOP) passes after 1 year.

Which makes me ask, what is it you are looking to monitor? If you're looking at prolonged central apneas (and I mean prolonged, some monitors low time limit may be 15 to 20 seconds) or respiratory arrest, an apnea monitor may be appropriate. Is you're trying to track obstructive apneas, and the monitor you have is analyzing chest wall movement, which is a common technology, then a hundred apneas could happen and the thing will never go off.

I agree with Guest, get some input from your Pediatrician re: the features you need in your unit.
