I'm relatively new to CPAP as a user having picked up the unit/mask Jan 06/06. I can honestly say that impact of use has been amazing.

My wife was concerned that unit would be noisy and she had concerns with "white noise". She's actually very pleased in the sense that there is NO noise whatsoever; only the odd issues with air-leaks which occur when turning but disappear as/when I get settled in the new position.

The fact that snoring has ceased is a major plus as well.

From my perspective; results are amazing..........noted difference even after the 1st night of use.........

I've had three (3) nights when I've either not used the system at all and/or have removed after only 1-2 hours of use........ This occurs when I find myself to be congested......

I have been diagnosed with "mild" apnea not like some of those I've read of on this site.

I have been reviewing this site for a few weeks and find the exchanges most helpful and I do plan on maintaining contact over time.

Overall, the effect of use of CPAP has been very positive......

Saw other topic specific to cost concerns:

Total cost of unit and mask: $1040
Ont Gov Health covered: - $ 780
My health Plan covered - $ 208
Cost to Me: $ 52 (not bad for a good nights sleep)

Current level settings on my CPAP are Pressure - 6, Humidity - +2.5

nilmdts,

Welcome to cpaptalk.

Great intro to xPAP, not all are so fortunate.

I see you have an F&P - which model ?
I used a HC221LE & found it excellent - I too found the
low frequecy constant noise to be more like white noise
than the hum/whine we get from many other brands.

You certainly have come out well in the cost dept. Here
in Australia we get a flat $500 (repeatable once per year)
and have to be on a fairly high hospital health plan to
qualify.

Anyway, welcome & am sure you are already well in control
of your therapy.

Cheers

DSM
xPAP and Quattro std mask (plus a pad-a-cheek anti-leak strap)
