Eager to try new things..

Post by DrowsyRN » Fri Feb 03, 2006 7:00 pm

Hi Guys,

I am excited and needed to tell someone else who understands. I got my new Resmed S8 Compact and my Ultra Mirage full face mask. I set it up and am surprised at how small and quiet it is. I was using a RemStar Plus with C-Flex with Mirage Swift Nasal Pillows. I still love the Swift but wanted to try a full face mask. I am not bagging the RemStar so don't get me wrong, but ever since I got it from my DME it has wheezed like a wounded bagpipe. I hardly hear a sound when the S8 is on.

Any one have a suggestion about using the Ultra Mirage FFM for the first time?

Always eager to play with new toys....

Scott

Hi Scott,

I also use the Ultra Mirage FF Mask.

I would suggest that when you first put it on that a) you hold it away from your face with 3 of the clips attached and after you put the blower on, put it toward your face and then clip the last clip. It usually makes a better seal for me that way.

You may also have to play a bit with the forehead support to see which angle gives you the best seal around the nose. For me it is all the way at the bottom.

You may also need to move the whole mask a bit up or down your nose to see where it is most comfortable and where it gets the best seal (you need to repeat the process about holding it away from your face each time you move it)

Good luck and Good sleeping!

Scott,

I agree with Sleepy Gal, although I fasten the last clip BEFORE I pull it away from my face. Also, you'll want to experiment with the strap tension. These things work better when they're a little on the loose side. Every once in a while I get a "large" leak during the night (from moving around), but I get good therapy with it and it's comfortable to me.

Best wishes,
