Thinking of trying the Optile mask. I had used the ComfortCurve a few years ago. While I had a love/hate relationship with the Comfort Curve what I liked was the cradle cushion which now comes with the Optilife but the brochure says you need to use the chin support for it to work properly. I would love some feedback.

The chin support for the Optilife is needed for mask stability. It wasn't designed to be used as major support for mouth breathers (though it might be enough for some very minor mouth opening) it is a needed part of the whole mask setup.

Optilife nasal pillows was what I used for the sleep titration study, came home with it and used it till I got the Swift LT and never went back to the Optilife. Headgear was too large for my head even when adjusted down as much as it would go and I really didn't like the chin strap and stuff on my face. Plus they gave me Medium pillow and it was too large also.

Could it be used without the chin strap and still be effective? I don't know. I gave mine away.

I'm with Pugsy...gave mine away too. I could not get it to stop leaking no matter what I did.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Doug-- I have one in my closet. Tried it on, played with adjustments about a half hour, and it's been on the shelf ever since. While I adjusted the chin support, I didn't get far enough with it to see how well that works. The whole thing DID seem more stable with the support snugged up.

It has 4 sizes of pillows (3 still in sealed packaging) but no "cradles"... it's pre-cradle. If you want it, it's yours. Register and PM me...

I use the Optilife nasal pillows and I'm comfortable, with these fixes: I only use the medium nasal pillows, not the cradle, and I have pad a cheek strap pads which I put on the hard plastic chip strap supports.

I started with the cradle, but I had to lie absolutely still (which of course doesn't happen) or the cradle would send the air up my face instead of into my nose.

The chin strap is definitely needed for stability. I found that the hard plastic against my face was uncomfortable, especially when side sleeping. So I bought some pad a cheek strap pads and now I'm comfortable and have good stability. The chin strap does not stop mouth breathing; after a sleep study which proved that I was mouth breathing I chose to tape my mouth shut. Doing well, much more comfortable than with a nose mask.

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for your feeedback. I was only interested in the Optilife because of the cradle cushion option. A few years ago I tried the Comfort Curve while I hated the headgear I liked the cradle cushion. I don't feel comfortable sleeping with the nasal pillows in my nose. I called the company that I get my equipment from and they told me I could return the Optilife if I was not satisfied. So I guess I have nothing to lose. I will probably end up going back to the Mirage Vista mask That I have been using. Thanks again
