Sounds like the Sandman is one of the good guys after all! Congratulations

I think one of the things the experience tells you is NOT to deal with his office staff as they seem to have their own agendas. If you have issues or problems, insist on speaking to him directly.

Good luck with the DME.

Everything at the DME went ... close enough to plan. I'd still say it went very well. There was some initial confusion because they didn't have my order from this morning, and had to call to verify, and Dr. Sandman didn't write "auto" on the script or order. Turns out Sandman's office has an exclusive with Respironics, and they've never ordered (through this DME) any other brand of machine, so everyone was surprised and skeptical. Once the morning's order was verified, the DME said "I can't give you an autoset since the the order isn't for an auto machine." I said I thought it didn't matter if the script said auto or not, and asked if it was a legal thing. He said "yep, this is medical equipment and I can't give you auto when the script doesn't say auto." He pointed out there wasn't even a pressure range. He said it was no problem if the doc wrote a new order and sent it to him.

Then I started thinking about how awful I've been feeling, and all the posts here I read from people who use auto machines in CPAP mode most of the time, and just flip to auto to check their progress. I thought about the doctor who told me I could go auto if I really wanted to, but he recommended against it, and I thought about the graph from my titration where I had a lot of central apneas slightly higher and slightly lower than my prescribed pressure, and decided it wasn't that important to me.

Long story short, I'm very happy to have my Resmed S9 Elite & H5i humidifier and the Quattro and Aptiva masks upstairs waiting for bedtime. Everyone's advice was great, and I feel like I got the right machine for my needs.

Now to figure out how I'm going to read the data on the card (the DME really didn't want me to do that)...

Any SD card reader will work.

Get the ResScan software through the link in Uncle_Bob's signature.

I have the same machine and am very happy with it.

While the OP has finished with this question, for others: If it before the DME shows up. Put a chair in a room so the tech can walk all the way around you while adjusting the mask the first time. Maybe in the sleeping room, as the tech will want you to lay down to see if the mask leaks in actual use.

Hey, you didn't do too badly at all, but you should know that the DME was lying about the script having to specify auto in order to get an auto machine. An E0601 machine is an E0601 machine, auto or straight CPAP, and since autos can be run in straight CPAP mode they can be used to fill a prescription for a straight CPAP.

Many people do just fine with straight CPAP, so you may be just fine with what you got. It's up to you whether or not you want to pursue it with the DME, but don't wait too long if you decide that you really want the APAP.

Of course, not, they can't charge you if YOU can do it yourself.

Thanks! I got into the admin menu and have the software

After 6 hours last night, I've been energetic all day, and my AHI was 1.0! Of course, the pressure blew my mouth open in the morning and dried out my throat, mouth, and nose, but being a newbie, I expect to have some little issues. In addition to my nose mask, I have a full-face, and I know I can get a chin strap if keeping my gob shut becomes an issue.
