Whats' the best place to get snuggy for my hose?

Post by sleepyleaf » Thu May 12, 2011 10:39 am

I have had two nights with my new mask and so far am very pleased with it. No leaks, I sleep through the night for the most part even though I roll over a lot. Best of all I have had two consecutive drives into work without getting sleepy. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this continues. Also the sores in my nose from the nasal pillows have gone away!!!

So.. I was wondering where is the best place to buy a snuggy for my hose? I noticed a slight noise kind of a vibration in the hose, nothing real loud but thought a snuggy might muffle that and also the air blowing into my mask is a little cold and thought it would help with that too. Will it?

Let me just say I love this board. If I had to wait to get all my questions asked until the next time I saw the Dr or could get a hold of the DME I would go crazy. Oh forgot to mention, I seem to be breaking out in what I think is Acne but it really itches on one side of my nose where the mask sits. Any suggestions?

I got my sleep study results and am waiting to get software to upload info from my machine and hope to at some point post it on here for some of you "experts" to look at and advise. I have to make this work. I need my energy back!! 2 kids to raise and even more importantly at this time a Mom with ALS to help care for! I want to be there for all of them and I have truly been "dragging" for the last couple years. Hope I didn't share too much. Some things I just need to talk about.

As always thanks for the help!!!

Hello Sleepyleaf, glad things are improving for you, sounds like you have a lot on your plate.
I got a really nice hose cozy from pad a cheek, 2 or 3 (?) layers thick, just what I need for cold Mich winters and a cold bedroom, worth the $$, very well made. I also have a less expensive single layer polartec that is less bulky for travel and OK for warmer weather. It would not be difficult to make one like that , polar tec and a little Velcro, one straight seam. Or maybe socks for the sewing challenged
Any landing you walk away from is a good one; if you don't break your airplane it's excellent.

I second Pad-A-Cheek! Anything she makes is well worth the money.

I made my own (before I heard of PAC!) out of a scrap of heavy fleece. It doesn't use velcro, so putting it on and off the hose is a struggle. When it wears out, I'm going PAC.

Ditto to what LinkC has said.

I only use the hose cozy in winter and my home made attempt works but it isn't what I really want. I don't sew anymore and no patience to try.

Next winter I will get one from Padacheek if for no other reason than I want it and I am worth it.
Just in case you don't know about Karen's stuff. Here is link.

And while you are shopping a http://padacheek.com/, check out the mask liners. It sounds as though those breakouts could be a reaction to the silicone. The mask liners provide a nice barrier between your face and the mask.

I would highly recommend pad-a-cheek or from ebay Designs by Duval.

Mine is a plaid green, gold and black. Rather a manly looking thing compared to what is out there now. I think hosehuggie.com discontinued the pattern and I probably got it at ebay or from some cpap store years ago (along with a cpap travel tag).

Forum member offered one to anyone who couldn't afford one -- that was me back then on unemployment. Got a contract gig and bought some fleece on sale and made a second with matching padding for straps.

I made mine out of prequilted fabric and made some padded doo dads for the straps on my mask out of fleece and a little hose cover for that foot of hose that comes with the Swift FX. They sure do help with the rain out. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

This is what I got too. Grey, respironics, with velcro at the ends to keep it in place. I'm happy with it.
