Having just completed my 2 day migration from Florida to Maryland for the summer, I thought I would share the stupid thing I did.
I have now been on CPAP for 1 & 1/2 years. I am 100% compliant. I seldom nap, but when I do, I use my CPAP machine. I even used it on an overnight flight to Europe last summer (with permission from the airline, etc.)
Sooooo.... where was my CPAP battery when a thunderstorm caused the power to go out in the hotel at 3:30 am? In a suitcase, under about 3 other suitcases, in my car, in the parking lot!!! Since the thunderstorm was still going on AND I did not feel like finding the stairwell in the dark and walking down 4 flights of likely unlighted stairs, I decided to leave it there. The power did not come back on until shortly after 7 am. Until then I dozed with my phone alarm set to ring every 30 mins so I could check to see if the power had come back on. Not a good way to prepare for an 8 1/2 hour drive the next day. Ah well, when the power came back on, I slept for a couple of hours and left later than I had planned. Nevertheless, I haven't felt this groggy in the morning since I first started on CPAP. I drank caffeine all the way up the east coast.
Note to self: That's why you have the battery! Don't leave it in the car!!!!!!!!! Duh.
Oh boy! What a night...and it was my own fault!

You should have just gone and gotten the battery any way.

I'm sure I'll be there and do that. . .. grief knows I do it with everything ELSE!!
Lessons learned. . .

Is the moral to this story to expect the unexpected? I doubt many people drag theirs into the hotel every night. Live and learn, right? Just curious, will this cause you to take it in everywhere you spend the night, or will you just take your chances? I don't think this night should be allowed to taint that excellent compliance record.

I'll probably take it more often but not always. But if I do have it with me, it will be in the same room and not out in the car!kteague wrote:Just curious, will this cause you to take it in everywhere you spend the night, or will you just take your chances?
