I went to see my DME today to download last night's data 'cause my inhalation pressure was very high all night for some reason. She figures it was allergies. Anyhoo, just because she was bored and in a good mood she printed out all of my data since the last time the card was cleared, which was mid-December. She had agreed with me all along that I didn't need the ASV my former doctor prescribed. Over six months, my "patient initiated breathing" percentage was 98.7 I need a ventilator like I need a place to store a yacht!
Stupid me should have switched doctors instead of accepting the ASV. Hindsight is such clear vision.
Now I'm REALLY angry
Re: Now I'm REALLY angry
Bons, that only means the machine at the present setting is treating you properly. The data tell you nothing about what the patient initiated breaths would have been if you hadn't had the machine. So this latest info is no reason at all for you to be angry.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

Re: Now I'm REALLY angry
I have mostly centrals, so its a wonder that I seem to have 99% patient initiated breaths. But when I wear my pulse oximeter to bed its easy to see if I take off the mask, that is the record where I am dropping below the 80% range not breathing about 60 times an hour. Somehow by intervening slightly before things go wrong, the ASV algorithm gets you and I to initiate breaths that we otherwise would not initiate and we sleep. Don't be angry about having a high percentage, be glad that it works so well that you cannot even tell its working.
