S9 Mask Fit

Post by deldigger » Tue May 10, 2011 11:39 am

I've just started this thereapy and my S9 Mask Fit feature frequently shows as 'unhappy' when I look at the Info on Sleep Quality. My provider seemed to downplay this. I don't notice any leakage during the night. Any thoughts?

Mr Unhappy face for leaks is there for a reason. If leaks are so bad that he shows up then by ResMed's standards the effectiveness of therapy and even the scoring of events can be seriously impaired. It is possible to sleep right through leaks so don't count on your not noticing them to mean you aren't having them. Mr Unhappy face takes a lot for him to show up and if he has, those leaks are large and long term.

For Provider to dismiss such an obvious sign of ineffective treatment is pretty p... poor guidance IMO. How long has this been going on?

What machine do you use? Model? There are more than one ResMed 9 models.
What mask do you use?

You can go to your Profile and permanently add equipment so we don't have to ask equipment usage each time.

Thanks for the prompt response. I've updated my profile (S9 elite w EPR and Mirage Quattro full face mask). I'm actually trying out another, less cumbersome mask, the Quattro FX, so maybe I'll see Mr. Happy more often with that equipment. I will probably choose the mask which gets me the best Mask Fit results, having not much else to go on.

You have data available on the S9 Elite... Both on the LED screen and using software to see exactly when and/or how bad the leaks are.

Not sure all the exact steps to get to onscreen data but this may get you started.

Were you aware that there is software available to actually see the leak graph (among other things)?
Check out forum member Uncle_Bob for his signature and links to software as well as the clinician manual.

Video to explain software

Using all these you can see for sure just how much the leak is or is not affecting therapy. No guess work.
