setting pressure too high.

Post by purple » Thu May 05, 2011 5:49 pm

If I am running a straight pressure, what are the consequences to setting it a bit higher to see how much it would help? I see some comments that make me think Centrals may increase, but do not see how?

Why can't you run on auto and see what your 95% pressure is. Then you will know how to set the straight pressure. That is why you have an "auto" machine.

I don't think anyone has ever put out any bad stories from increasing the pressure a bit to see if it gets better.

I'm slightly suspicious that setting the pressure a little low, and letting the machine "auto" you up results in somewhat reduced benefits from the therapy. I'm thinking that you have to have some degree of breathing problems and associated side effects to make the machine "auto up."

Auto's still a good thing in that it will detect and react to "full blown" events, but I'm not sure it gives you optimal pressure. I'm currently experimenting with reducing my pressure to see how I feel at lower levels that still don't trigger auto adjustments.

Doc is satisfied with current results, I just thought I could maximise benefits by allowing machine to detect and auto up the pressure a bit. Then I hear about centrals. so I would need to monitor what is happening which I am not set up to do with Remstar auto. I think I can not wait six months until I see doc again. My sleep treatment is too important to leave it less than optimal, or increase the risk of centrals without at least being able to detect what is happening on a more timely basis.

Or am I just worrying too much.
